JLS |
JLS consists of founding member Oritsé Williams, Aston Merrygold, Jonathan "JB" Gill and Marvin Humes.
Before entering The X Factor in 2008, JLS performed at the Showcase:LIVE in October 2007 and June 2008 under the name of UFO (Unique Famous Outrageous).
Humes was formerly in R&B group VS set up by Simon Webbe in 2004. After the group were dropped he moved on to property sales before he was asked by Williams to join JLS.
On 20 January 2009 it was announced that JLS had signed a record contract with Epic.
‘Beat Again’ became the fastest selling debut of the year. JLS’s stella debut has already earned them two prestigious Mobo nominations, for Best Newcomer and Best Single. As if to prove that their appeal lies outside of the standard pop network, JLS celebrity fans have announced themselves, unashamed, in as varied and distinct personae as Pet Shop Boys and Tinchy Stryder.
Their first single "Beat Again" went straight to number one on 19 July 2009 and remained number one the following week.
