THE MOBO AWARDS 2009

The best of British were out in full force at the Mobo Awards 2009, which were held in Glasgow. The hosts were Reggie Yates of MTV and RnB Sensation Keri Hilson. The two big winners of the night were X-Factors JLS and N-Dubz, both groups picked up two awards each. This shows that you do not have to win X-Factor to be appreciated for your music!

JLS won Best Newcomer and Best Song; N-Dubz won Best Album and Best UK Act. The evening was also a celebration to one of the best entertainers of all time, Michael Jackson.  Sister, La Toya Jackson gave an introduction with a tribute coming from Shaheen Jafargholi. Brother Jermaine also gave an emotional tribute, singing Michael’s favorite song “Smile.”
Another tribute came from Britain’s got Talent winners Diversity; they got the audience going with a dance medley to a number of “The King of Pop’s” greatest hits.  Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, DJ Ironik, Nappa Man K, Donaeo, Su Elise of Former MisTeeq, Niaomi Harris, Peter Andre (we know!), Nneka, Kelly Rolland and David Guetta, plus so much more were all in attendance!

THE BRIT 2010 AWARDS

The Academy is made up of 1000 specially invited members from different sectors of the music industry. Major and independent record companies, retailers, music critics and student press, music TV and Radio producers and presenters, music publishers, artist managers, concert promoters and venues, NUS representatives and DJs.

Less than a quarter of the academy’s membership is drawn from the recording industry, and despite the popular misconception that “BRIT Bosses” dish out the awards, only 12% of the voting academy are drawn from major record companies.

All academy votes are collected online, and are counted and verified by official scrutinisers ERS (Electoral Reform Services).
